Do you have visitation on Halloween? Parenting Plan?

Do you have a parenting plan? What is your holiday schedule with your children?

In Parenting Plans in the State of Washington, the holiday schedule, found in Section 10, determines visitation between parents and children on holidays. Standard holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas are included by default in every Parenting Plan; however, if you want visitation with your children on Halloween, then it needs to be included in the holidays.

Too often important holidays like Halloween are absent, leaving many parents without a remedy to see their children on Halloween.

Be sure to review your parenting plan with an experienced family law attorney before it becomes final. To meet with our family law attorneys in Olympia or Centralia about your divorce, parenting plan, child support, or family law matter, call Althauser Rayan Abbarno, LLP (360) 754-5844.

Washington Supreme Court Rules on Gun Rights Restoration

The Washington State Supreme Court recently ruled individuals who want to have their gun rights restored after a felony conviction must be crime-free for five years, but it doesn’t have to be the five years immediately before they petition.

The majority in the Dennis v. State Case said that because the Petitioner had been conviction-free for more than five years after completing his last felony sentence, he was entitled to have his gun rights restored despite having committed a misdemeanor two years prior to filing the Petition.
